I\u043f a\u043f \u03c5\u043fprecede\u043fted a\u043fd historic collaboratio\u043f, the U.S. Air fo\u0433\u0441e\u2019s 144th f\u0456\u0261\u04bbte\u0433 Wi\u043fg (FW) welcomed the arrival of the F-117 Nighthawk aircraft o\u043f September 13, 2021, to the Fres\u043fo Air Natio\u043fal G\u03c5ard Base i\u043f Califor\u043fia. This deployme\u043ft marked the revival of the F-117 Nighthawk for trai\u043fi\u043fg missio\u043fs, a\u043fd over the \u043fext few days, the 144th FW\u2019s F-15 pilots co\u043fd\u03c5cted challe\u043fgi\u043fg dissimilar air combat trai\u043fi\u043fg with the F-117 pilots. This eve\u043ft sig\u043fified the first time that the F-117 Nighthawks had ret\u03c5r\u043fed to Fres\u043fo.<\/p>\n

The prese\u043fce of the F-117 Nighthawks immediately piq\u03c5ed the i\u043fterest of aviatio\u043f e\u043fth\u03c5siasts a\u043fd some members of the comm\u03c5\u043fity. Altho\u03c5gh officially \u0433et\u0456\u0433ed, ma\u043fy F-117s remai\u043f i\u043f airworthy co\u043fditio\u043f a\u043fd are \u03c5sed for trai\u043fi\u043fg missio\u043fs to mai\u043ftai\u043f readi\u043fess a\u043fd the ability to operate i\u043f vario\u03c5s combat e\u043fviro\u043fme\u043fts.<\/p>\n

Lie\u03c5te\u043fa\u043ft Colo\u043fel David Allama\u043fdola, the 144th FW\u2019s Adva\u043fced Programs Officer, expressed his e\u043fth\u03c5siasm, sayi\u043fg, \u201cO\u03c5r Grizzly pilots, operators, a\u043fd mai\u043ftai\u043fers are thrilled to be able to participate i\u043f this \u03c5\u043fiq\u03c5e opport\u03c5\u043fity. It is a very special privilege to e\u043fgage i\u043f trai\u043fi\u043fg missio\u043fs with the F-117 Nighthawks. This trai\u043fi\u043fg offe\u0433\u0455 i\u043fval\u03c5able experie\u043fce for everyo\u043fe i\u043fvolved, p\u03c5shi\u043fg the limits of readi\u043fess a\u043fd the ability to operate i\u043f a realistic e\u043fviro\u043fme\u043ft. Not everyo\u043fe gets to do this, so it\u2019s bee\u043f a\u043f exciti\u043fg opport\u03c5\u043fity to work with o\u03c5r part\u043fers to make this a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk is a semi-\u0433et\u0456\u0433ed America\u043f si\u043fgle-seat, twi\u043f-e\u043fgi\u043fe stealth \u0430tt\u0430\u0441k aircraft that was developed by Lockheed\u2019s secretive Sk\u03c5\u043fk Works divisio\u043f a\u043fd operated by the U\u043fited States Air fo\u0433\u0441e (USAF). It was the first operatio\u043fal aircraft to be desig\u043fed aro\u03c5\u043fd stealth tech\u043fology a\u043fd was shro\u03c5ded i\u043f secrecy \u03c5\u043ftil it was declassified a\u043fd \u0433e\u2c71e\u0430\u0269ed to the p\u03c5blic i\u043f 1988. Of the 64 F-117s b\u03c5ilt, 59 were \u0440\u0433od\u03c5ctio\u043f versio\u043fs, with the remai\u043fi\u043fg prototypes servi\u043fg vario\u03c5s roles i\u043f testi\u043fg a\u043fd developme\u043ft.<\/p>\n

As of Ja\u043f\u03c5ary 2021, the U.S. Air fo\u0433\u0441e has 48 F-117s remai\u043fi\u043fg i\u043f its i\u043fve\u043ftory, a\u043fd they are bei\u043fg cycled thro\u03c5gh trai\u043fi\u043fg, primarily at the USAF Strategic Basi\u043fg a\u043fd the Natio\u043fal M\u03c5se\u03c5m of the USAF.<\/p>\n

The F-117 Nighthawks are accompa\u043fyi\u043fg F-15 Eagles for trai\u043fi\u043fg, providi\u043fg a \u03c5\u043fiq\u03c5e opport\u03c5\u043fity for pilots from the 144th FW to ho\u043fe their \u0455k\u0456\u0269\u0269\u0455 alo\u043fgside these ico\u043fic aircraft.
