The White Lotus is an American dark comedy television series created by Mike White for HBO, which premiered on July 11, 2021. The series follows the adventures of guests and staff during a one-week stay at a fictional global luxury resort hotel chain called the “White Lotus”.[4] Each season features a different cast. Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Rothwell, and Jon Gries are the only cast members to appear in multiple seasons. The first season was filmed and set in Hawaii, the second season in Sicily, and the third season in Thailand.
The series opens with a dead body washing up on the shores of Taormina, Sicily, and then flashes back in time one week to when hotel manager Valentina greets guests. Tanya is now unhappily married to Greg, and he is upset that she brought her assistant Portia along on what was supposed to be a two-person trip. Portia meets Albie Di Grasso, a recent Stanford graduate. He travels to Italy to explore his family roots with his father Dominic and his grandfather Bert. Dominic is a sex-addicted Hollywood filmmaker who is separated from his wife, while Bert is a womanizer. Meanwhile, Ethan and Harper Spiller are staying with their college friend Cameron Sullivan and his wife Daphne. Harper notices Cameron’s feelings for her, but thinks it’s all fake. While showering, Cameron accidentally undresses her in front of Harper.[10] Ethan ignores her, thinking Cameron might not see her.
Lucia, a local prostitute, and her friend Mia sneak up to Dominic’s hotel room to entertain him. To avoid gossip, Dominic tells Valentina that Lucia and Mia are his friends. Portia accompanies the Di Grasso family to visit the old theater in Taormina, where Bert continues to gossip. Albie and Portia go to dinner, where she reveals Tanya’s past to him. Bert blames Dominic for his failed marriage, prompting Dominic to tell Lucia that he wants to quit sex, but he continues to have fun with her and Mia. In contrast to Cameron, Ethan and Harper are completely cold in bed. Cameron continues to flirt with Harper in the bathroom. Harper later apologizes to Ethan for being so difficult, promising to have fun again. Greg tells Tanya that he has to go back to Denver for work.
She later overhears him calling a possible lover. Bert says that he saw Lucia and Mia leave the room, Dominic feels guilty and breaks up with Lucia. During the night out, Albie tries to impress Portia but is called back by Tanya. She is upset about Greg and needs someone to help her. During a tarot reading, the fortuneteller tells her that her husband has a mistress. That night, Albie tries to get closer to Portia but she accidentally meets a British guy named Jack at the pool. Daphne and Harper go sightseeing in Noto while Cameron and Ethan go jet skiing. In Noto, Daphne tells Harper about her husband’s affair but she chooses to ignore it and hints at Cameron’s illegal business. At the hotel, Cameron tries to convince Ethan to invest in her project since Ethan is a wealthy upstart businessman. They invite Lucia and Mia to the party room, Cameron has sex with Lucia but Ethan rejects Mia.
Cameron refuses to pay Lucia and Mia in full. Harper returns from Noto, but says he only drank and says nothing more. She later finds a condom wrapper but is upset and says nothing more. Tanya meets and befriends Quentin, a wealthy British gay man living in Palermo. She runs into Jack at the pool and is introduced as his nephew. Albie meets Lucia while waiting for Portia, and they flirt, unaware of her relationship with her father. Lucia frets about her uncertain future, while Mia tries to have s,e,x with Giuseppe to get a singing gig at the hotel, despite Lucia’s warnings. Giuseppe, thinking Mia gave him Viagra, has a stroke and is rushed to the emergency room. Jack and Portia sleep together, and Albie invites Lucia to their room for s,e,x.
Ethan explains everything to his wife about the previous night, she temporarily accepts his apology. Both couples attend the wine tasting, Harper hints that she knows everything. Ethan says Cameron always tries to use the people Ethan liked in college. While Harper continues to make a scene to embarrass her husband. Tonight’s dinner, Cameron puts his hand on Harper’s thigh and turns quickly. Albie is surprised when Lucia Asks for money for sex, his father tries to share both of them but at this time Albie has fallen for Lucia. A man named Alessio flirts with Lucia, she says she owes him money. Today Albie and Lucia sleep together again. When she learns that Valentina is gay, Mia has sex to change Giuseppe’s singing position. Tanya and Portia visit Palermo with Quentin’s conference. Quentin goes to the theater with Tanya, while Jack and Portia go for a walk.
That night, Tanya wakes up and is shocked to see Jack and Quentin having s,e,x. Ethan and Harper discuss marriage, he thinks his wife is having an affair with Cameron when he sees them together. The Di Grasso family visits their relatives, Lucia also follows as an interpreter, behind Alessio is following the group. Lucia lets Alessio go with everyone despite everyone’s objections. The Di Grasso family visits without notice so they have to refuse. Bert is disappointed about the visit. When returning to the hotel, Lucia says that Alessio will only let her go when he pays off his debt. Valentina decides to have a relationship with Mia, after learning that her secret crush, employee Isabella, is engaged to her colleague Rocco. Tanya tells Portia that Jack may not be Quentin’s nephew. Meanwhile, Quentin sets her up with drug dealer Niccoló. In the room, Tanya accidentally sees a photo of Quentin and Greg when they were young. Jack gets drunk and reveals to Portia that Quentin is not a note but a former cyber research benefactor, in return, he accepts a relationship with Quentin.
