Hard Target 2 (2016)

Hard Target 2 (2016) is the action-packed sequel to Jean-Claude Van Damme’s 1993 classic Hard Target. Directed by Roel Reiné, the film stars martial artist Scott Adkins in the title role, bringing his intense fight choreography and physicality to this standalone sequel.
In Hard Target 2, Adkins plays Wes Baylor, a discredited former mixed martial arts fighter who is haunted by a tragic accident in the ring. Lured to Thailand with the promise of a large sum of money for one last fight, Wes soon finds himself tricked into falling prey in a deadly manhunt orchestrated by a ruthless billionaire named Aldrich (played by Robert Knepper).
Dropped into the jungle with a head start and a small survival kit, Wes must outsmart and fight an elite group of hunters who have paid for the thrill of tracking and killing a human target. As he navigates the harsh terrain and avoids the sophisticated hunters, Wes turns the tables, using his combat skills and instincts to fight back.
The film delivers fast-paced action, explosive stunts, and hand-to-hand combat scenes that showcase Adkins’ athletic prowess. While the plot follows a familiar formula, it stays true to the “man versus hunter” genre with a modern twist and high-energy execution.
While not a direct sequel to Van Damme’s original story, Hard Target 2 still carries on the core concept of survival and revenge, delivering a fierce martial arts action experience for fans of the genre.
