Slither (2006)

In the seemingly quiet and peaceful town of Wheelsy, South Carolina, an unassuming meteorite crashes, heralding a dark and sinister force from outer space. The meteor carries with it a parasitic alien organism, which soon takes control of local businessman Grant Grant (Michael Rooker). His transformation into a grotesque and monstrous creature, driven by an insatiable hunger for human flesh, becomes the catalyst for a nightmarish chain of events.
As Grant’s condition worsens, the parasitic infection spreads rapidly, transforming others into grotesque zombie-like creatures. At the heart of the chaos is Grant’s wife, Starla (Elizabeth Banks), who remains desperately hopeful that she can save him from the alien parasite. Meanwhile, the town’s sheriff, Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion), becomes an unlikely hero as he fights to protect the town from the rapidly escalating threat.
With a mix of gory horror and absurd dark comedy, Slither navigates the themes of possession, body horror, and the loss of humanity. The film builds on the tension of an alien invasion gone horribly wrong, while also injecting moments of bizarre humor. As the town faces the threat of total annihilation, Bill, Starla, and a few survivors must confront not only the grotesque alien menace but also their own fears, survival instincts, and the fragility of their human connections.
A thrilling blend of sci-fi and horror, Slither explores the terrifying possibilities of alien invasion and body transformation, all while managing to maintain a sharp sense of dark humor and absurdity.
