The God of War series is a hack and slash action adventure combined with puzzle solving. In the first 6 parts, the player controls Kratos in a third-person perspective and a fixed camera (meaning the player cannot control the camera); the camera will change the angle automatically based on the terrain of each level. The gameplay of the first 6 parts is linear, the player will follow Kratos on a pre-planned journey. There will be hidden treasures that stimulate exploration, but in many cases the player will not be able to return to the previous level to search for treasures that have been missed. In combat, Kratos’ default main weapon is a pair of twin blades (Blades of Chaos or Athena’s Blades) attached to Kratos’ hands by chains.
