The Nephew (2018)

The Nephew is a 1998 Irish film directed by Eugene Brady, which tells the story of a young mixed-race American man, Chad Egan-Washington (played by Hill Harper).

After the death of his father, and then his mother, a long-time Irish immigrant to the United States, mixed-race teenager Chad leaves his home in New York for the small island of Ireland where his mother grew up, to live with his uncle, a small farmer.

In addition to facing initial prejudice, Chad also finds himself at the center of his uncle Tony’s (Donal McCann) resentment towards local bar owner Joe Brady (Pierce Brosnan) for his illicit relationship with Chad’s mother, which Tony disapproved of before she left twenty years earlier.

Further complications arise when Chad develops a relationship with Brady’s daughter, Aislinn (Aislin McGuckin). Her admirer, Peter O’Boyce (David Quinn), who works at her father’s bar, is jealous and tries to stop the romance.
